I just tried plugging the Nike piece into the iPhone and a message popped up saying that it wasn’t supported.

that is a fake picture… many people tried and it does not work together. I personally would like it because i run alone and in an emergency it might be nice to have the ability to call for help if i hurt myself.

Don’t forget too that the iPhone is running OSX (of some kind) whereas a Nano is running the iPod software. That’s two different platforms so I’d say that pretty much rules out the current Nike+ Sports kit working with the iPhone. They could make a new version that is compatible I guess but as Jim says above, the Nano is very light in contrast to the iPhone so I’d say the Nano is going to stay the intended target for the Sports Kit.

I agree Berneck, I still think the nano is the perfect ‘pod for exercising. It is so small and light, I barely notice I have it. And it is definitely more wearable than the larger iPods and I’m sure the iPhone.

And while it is thin, I am sure the iPhone isn’t going to be light. Not pull-your-running-shorts-down heavy, but at least heavy enough to bounce around and be a distraction.

Who wants to answer their email and phone calls while they are running anyway? I run partly to get away, not become more connected with my electronic obligations. Last thing I want to see on my running trails are people jabbering away on their phones while they run (or probably walk).

I don’t know if that is their reason for not allowing it to work on the hard drive iPod. I think they don’t want to take the risk of someone running with a hard drive based player. It’s much more likely to be damaged vs a flash based player.

Regarding the iPhone, given the price and what it has, I don’t think they want you running with that, either. It will open Apple up to more lawsuits, by idiots who want to blame someone else for their actions.

The nano is perfect for running, and it’s the only thing you need. I wouldn’t use my iPhone for running even if it did have that capability.

Not conclusive but how likely that the iPhone is based on Flash technology? Given that the Nano works on Flash based technology and that is why its good for running etc…

on the subject of iPhone, given Cisco own the patent of the the name and have for a long time Apple probably gonna have to change the name, my personal vote goes for Apple Phone, of course shortened to Aphone ;-P
