To Ozzyman:

That is just a myth that I been reading on multiple forums and I would like to clarify. Please know that right now, on this very day, all over the world there are more athletes doing outdoor activities with an ipod video than the nano.

This is not only include runners, but extreme high risk sports like skateboarding, snowboarding, skiing, rollerbladng, and others.

So why is the real reason behind the nike+ nano?
and exclusive feature to motivate the sales on this specific player, please know that the nano is not the only ipod that uses flash memory, yet the only one that works as part of the kit.

So lets put a stop to all these crazy rumors and start running! ;)

Best,

Ralph J.

[...] FYI, here’s some good tips for new runners, what with New Year’s Resolutions coming up and all. This is very similar to what I did to work up to 1.5 miles, then to work up to 3, so I can say it works. I would really like to run a 5k charity race this spring. And lastly, Gmaps Pedometer is also helpful for plotting running routes. [...]

i just started running about two months ago, and i feel so much better already. my ipod is a constant companion. having good shoes is critical. i ran for the first several weeks with a pair of new balance trail shoes (807s). they're good for offroad stuff but man was i surprised at how good a decent pair of asics from the local running shop felt in comparison when running on the street. i really look forward to hitting the road in the morning now. they're so much lighter. so another tip. get shoes that are designed for where you'll be doing most of your running (i.e. - on the street vs. trail or offroad). and don't overdo it at first. i did six miles for the first time ever this morning. and if a sloth like me can do it, anyone can.

Apple won't release the kit for the 5G iPod because it uses a hard drive and people will sue them when the hard drive breaks from running.

Thanks for the tips. Got myself a (really) good pair of running shoes some months ago. For the first time in my life I can now say I enjoy the walking and the running, because the shoes just fits perfectly.

I can't recommend enough going to a store who specializes in running shoes, and get the full treatment. Just as you mentioned, it's a quite expensive deal, but you won't regret it.

The only thing standing in my way of upgrading my old 4G iPod to a nano is that I really feel the need for the 60GB capacity as well as the recording feature of the big brother. Oh, sneaky Apple... Please make NikePod work with the 5G as well!

All good stuff. I'd also add that it's nice to plug into a "support group" of sorts - catch up with other runners.

There's a pretty active community of runners who blog - check out completerunning.com/running-blogs/ to find other like-minded runners.

Love the ongoing hacks on the sauconys - I sprung for the Nike shoes and haven't been as dissappointed as I hoped, but look forward to trying this out with my Asics.
